I love learning and teaching. I love teachers and kids (and most administrators! Ha!). Currently I serve as the fine arts director and UIL coordinator at Gary ISD in east Texas. Everyday I drink coffee, but I didn’t have my first cup until after forty years old. I also didn’t have my first inside dog until middle age, and I have the same thought about both – how did I function before this?!
As I near retirement I hope to stay connected to schools and teachers, to encourage, to serve, and to celebrate. It was from these hopes that The Teacher’s Cup was born. It’s more than a company for me, it’s a community that fosters greater appreciation for the best profession on the planet – teaching!
I’d love to have a cup of coffee with you, seriously! If you have questions or concerns that deal with teaching, I’d love to offer my ear and maybe some advice. Over the course of my career, I’ve gathered up eleven certifications, worked at four school districts, taught 5th – 12th graders, and even served as principal for two years, which I absolutely hated.
I drink coffee and love teachers, and I hope you know that when you drink one of our coffees, hot chocolates, or teas, you’re really drinking a warm cup of “I see you, and I’m thankful for you!”
Aiming to lift you up,
Louis Michael Powell
